West Fest is a free concert festival in Golden Gate Park to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Woodstock from 9am to 6pm on October 25, 2009. The line-up is full of various members from classic rock bands, including many who played at the original Woodstock including Country Joe, Denny Laine (Wings, Moody Blues), Ray Manzarek (The Doors), John York (The Byrds), plus other musicians who have played in the Steve Miller Band, the Allman Brothers, Jefferson Airplane, and more, and Rolling Stone journalist Ben Fong -Torres will be a guest speaker.
In honor of Jimi Hendrix, who headlined the festival in 1969, 3,000 guitar players will attempt to break the World’'s Record for the Largest Guitar Ensemble playing “Purple Haze” — all at the same time
